On July 21th, EDS held its XL. Annual Meeting in Žilina, Sovakia and elected a new Bureau for the Working Year 2010-2011. Moreover, important Statutes changes were launched after fruitful discussions to improve the quality and strengthen the organisation of EDS. Elections were conducted in a very relaxed and friendly atmosphere, Bence Bauer being reelected for Chairman with 24 of 25 votes. His new team, that has to prepare the 50th anniversary of EDS in 2011, consists of Juraj Antal (ODM Slovakia), Jean-Baptiste Dabezies (UNI France), Cathrin Gräber (RCDS Germany), Samuli Kauranne (TK Finland), Matija Magerl (HAZ Croatia), Andreas Perotti (AG Austria), Giorgos Tsielepos (Protoporia Cyprus) and Andreas Willersrud (HSF Norway). Former Vice-Chairwoman Ildze Kanepaja (LCYU Latvia) was nominated Secretary General.
After the elections, a Resolution on diversity in our societies was adopted unanimously. EDS thereby stressed the need for mutual respect and understanding to overcome the crisis. “Unity in diversity” will be the slogan and guide the actions of the upcoming Working Year.
