On July 21^th, EDS held its XL. Annual Meeting in Žilina, Sovakia and elected a new Bureau for the Working Year 2010-2011. Moreover, important Statutes changes were launched after fruitful discussions to improve the quality and strengthen the organisation of EDS. The question of a new model for the voting rights was postponed to the next Winter University in order to bring up a more balanced system.

Day two of the Summer University was marked by workshops and discussions in EDS permanent working groups. Fresh ideas from the workshops got implemented in the working groups which prepared the documents for the Council meeting tomorrow.

“New Challenges or new perspectives for development?”

EDS Policy days of the working year 2009/2010 took place from May 10^th until May 13^th in Kiev, Ukraine. The event was hosted by EDS member organisation USA(Ukrainian Students Association)

During policy days in Kiev EDS had the possibility to meet with many interesting speakers: representatives from the Parliament of Ukraine(Verkhovna Rada), political parties, government and the senior officials from the Ministry for Family, Youth and Sport. Participants discussed various topics- higher education system in Ukraine and strategy of its development, youth movements in Ukraine, integration of the Ukrainian youth policy in the European structures, elections and campaigning.

After five years (Council Meeting in 2005 ), the European Democrat Students are back to Slovakia. The participants had the opportunity to discover Bratislava before the transfer to Zilina. On Monday morning, the hosting organisation ODM guided us in the National Parliament where we gained insight in the particular parlamentarian history of Slovakia, from the Autrian-hungarian monarchy through Czechoslovakia to Slovakia.
