Bucharest, September 22-23 – Following the positive reception of EDS Bureau in the last year, the new EDS Bureau was also this September well represented at the 10th Summer University of the European Ideas Network – think thank of the EPP Group.
At the event, where more than 300 participants gathered to discuss the topic „A Centre Right Answer to the Economic and Social Crises:A Project for Europe”, European Democrat Students was present with Chairman Juraj Antal and Editor-in-chief Sandra Falkowska.
Among the speakers, EPP Group aligned prominent representatives of the centre-right Europe like EPP President Wilfried Martens, EPP Group Chairman Joseph Daul, President of European Parliament Jerzy Buzek as well as Romanian President Basescu, Romanian Prime Minister Boc, Moldovan Prime Minister Filat and Belgian Prime Minister Leterme.
The meeting concluded with a clear stand in support of the earliest possible Schengen accession of Romania and Bulgaria, a policy towards a Europe without borders EDS is following since long time. The Ideas Network also highlighted to role Europe can play in its Eastern neighbourhood, especially int he Black Sea Region.
At this high profile event, EDS managed to make itself heared with participation in the panels. EDS Chairman Antal met all representatives of EDS’ mother party EPP, disseminated the new magazine BullsEye and addressed the policies important for EDS. He also developed a number of corporate contacts with the assistance of Editor-in-chief.
