Bilateral meeting in Slovakia

On Tuesday, 22nd of September, Bence Bauer, Chairman of European Democrat Students, took part in the 3rd day of the official visit of Young Likud in Slovakia.

The topic of discussion lead by President of Young Likud – Davidi Hermelin and Member of Slovak Parliament – Ivan Štefanec was Israeli – Slovak relations. Important part of their exchange was to look for ways how to help people from two countries to get to know each other and overcome prejudices which are consequences of cultural differences.

As members of students´ organisations, young peole mentioned the Erasmus Programme in which also Israeli Universities are involved. EDS Chairman pointed out the importance of good European-Israeli relations especially with regard to the common challenges our community of values face. He underlined also the impact of fruitful and friendly Slovak-Hungarian bilateral relations as nucleus of the Central European relations, like Visegrad.

In the evening a meeting with the Jewish Community of Slovakia was hold, which was honoured by Patrick Eagan, Director of International Republican Institute. Mr. Egan was informed about the projects of EDS and showed interest in participation.
